DevOps: The Art and Science of Building Reliable Software Systems

  • The talk will provide an in-depth examination of the DevOps methodology. The discussion will begin with an overview of DevOps and the responsibilities of a DevOps Engineer. A case study of project implementation utilizing DevOps will be presented, followed by a comparative analysis of DevOps and other methodologies, highlighting their respective advantages and disadvantages. The requisite skillsets for a successful career as a DevOps Engineer, encompassing both hardware and software proficiencies, will be outlined. The talk will conclude with an exploration of the Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) certification and its alignment with the educational objectives of students pursuing careers in the DevOps development environment.

Programme Development

Undergraduate
In line with this, the existing module Optimisation Concepts for Data Science has been replaced with a new module by the name of Optimisation and Deep Learning for the CS(DA) Programme. This new module has also been added as an additional elective for the CS and SE programmes. All the changes have been approved by QAB and it is set to roll out with the next intake.
Internship for the first intake of Data Informatics diploma student will commence in March 2020.
Postgraduate
The MSc DSBA and MSc AI programmes have gone through a Programme amendment and a new module called ‘Deep Learning’ has been included in Semester 3. This new Programme structure is effective from the 1911 Intake.
The School of Computing team is also extending its support in the module design and development of a FinTech specialization module called ‘Enabling Fintech’.
The MSc AI programme was launched with its first intake in Jan 2020.
